The International Global Network has hosted a special event for school principals as part of the 2026 Asia Youth International Model United Nations conference.
Organized by the International Global Network, a non-governmental organization that has previously held similar events in countries such as Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, and Vietnam, this conference is scheduled to take place in the Maldives starting October 15 at Kurumba Maldives resort.
Fifty Maldivian students have been given the opportunity to participate in this year's conference.
As a side event of the conference, a special session was held on Sunday for school principals to share information regarding the conference and provide detailed insights into the opportunities available for students. The meeting also included a Q&A session where the principals' inquiries were addressed.
Mohamed Fahrizal, President of the International Global Network, stated that the conference serves as a comprehensive platform for students to acquire a wide range of essential skills. He highlighted that through this event, participants will gain proficiency in public speaking, leadership, negotiation, and networking, while learning how to apply these skills effectively.
In this conference, students aged 14 to 16 are eligible to participate in the World Health Organization (WHO) council, where they have been assigned the topic of preventing the spread of communicable diseases in public spaces.
The UNDP conference is open to young people between the ages of 15 and 25, focusing on the theme: "Ensuring a Smooth and Inclusive Transition to a Green Economy."
Model United Nations (MUN) conferences are educational programs regularly hosted by academic institutions across the globe. In these simulations, students step into the roles of United Nations delegates to debate international issues and collaborate on finding global solutions. This experience serves as a vital opportunity for students to broaden their perspectives on international relations, diplomacy, and the complex challenges facing the world today.
A total of 250 students, including representatives from various countries, are participating in this year's conference.
