More than a year after announcing a criminal investigation into several judges, ACC remains silent on the matter
Despite being suspended for over a year following the Anti-Corruption Commission's (ACC) decision to investigate criminal allegations against three Supreme Court justices, the judges have yet to be questioned. While the investigation remained stalled, two of the justices were removed from their posts without being granted the opportunity to respond to the allegations. Furthermore, the ACC has failed to provide any meaningful response to the judges' repeated requests for updates regarding the status of the investigation.

Supreme Court Justices Azmiralda Zahir and Ali Mahaz Zahir
More than a year after the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) announced it was investigating criminal allegations involving several Supreme Court justices, reports indicate that the commission has yet to even question the individuals implicated in the case.
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) launched an investigation in February 2025 into cases involving then-Supreme Court Justices Husnu Al Suood, Mahaz Ali Zahir, and Azmiralda Zahir.
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) immediately notified the Judicial Service Commission (JSC), leading to the prompt suspension of the judges. This action was taken just moments before the Supreme Court was scheduled to begin hearings on a case seeking to overturn a constitutional amendment that mandates members of parliament lose their seats if they switch political parties.
At the time, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) stated only that it was investigating a criminal matter involving the judges, without providing further details. The commission disclosed the specific allegations against the judges only after they submitted a formal written request for the information.
Reports indicate that the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has yet to question the individuals involved in this investigation. Furthermore, despite their own efforts to seek updates on the progress of the inquiry, the ACC has failed to provide any information regarding the current status of the case to date.
Two judges have been removed from their posts while investigations into allegations against them remained pending. Specifically, Judges Azmiralda and Mahaz were dismissed by the Parliament without being granted the opportunity to respond to the charges.
