Ahmed Maimoon Mohamed, Vice President of the MDP Youth Wing, has been released from custody under specific conditions.
Maimoon was arrested during a protest held by the MDP on Saturday night. He was taken into custody in handcuffs.
In addition, Ibrahim Rasheed Hassan, a member of the party's national congress, was also taken into police custody.
Maimoon was released on Sunday morning under four specific conditions. These conditions include cooperating with the investigation, refraining from communicating with any individuals involved in the case, notifying authorities of any changes to his phone number or address, and informing the police prior to leaving the Greater Male' area.
The MDP legal team has reported that Maimoon sustained a four-inch laceration to his head during his arrest by the police. Reports indicate that those detained during the protest were taken into custody using disproportionate force.
Photos obtained by RaajjeMV show Maimoon with a deep gash on his forehead, visibly bleeding from the injury.
