The government has held discussions on implementing special austerity measures to prevent the country's financial situation from deteriorating.
Efforts to obtain an official comment from the government regarding this matter were unsuccessful. However, some government officials informed "Adhadhu" that cost-cutting measures are being implemented, but these steps have not been made public due to the upcoming election.
Government officials have emphasized that implementing cost-cutting measures is now unavoidable. Among the actions taken is a restriction on overseas travel for all government ministries, with the exception of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Furthermore, the newspaper reported that the government's measures include canceling large-scale events, reducing travel to the atolls, and extending the timelines for ongoing projects. Additionally, the measures involve shortening the operating hours of government offices and suspending salary increments.
While the government has yet to issue an official comment on the matter, authorities continue to maintain that the country's financial situation is stable. However, the administration faces mounting public criticism, with many accusing the government of neglecting the nation's finances.
