Residents have staged a protest against the Housing Development Corporation (HDC), alleging that the corporation has failed in its responsibility to manage the Vinares flats.
At approximately 10:45 a.m. on Wednesday, a group of Vinares residents gathered to protest against the Housing Development Corporation (HDC). During the demonstration, which lasted about an hour outside the HDC office located within the Vinares tower complex, residents expressed their frustrations, alleging that the corporation has failed significantly in maintaining the flats and providing adequate services.
Residents have raised concerns over the damaged main entrance of the Vinares housing complex, stating that the lack of security allows unauthorized individuals to enter and exit the building freely. Protesters also highlighted that the fire safety system has been out of service for over a year, alleging that no efforts have been made to rectify the issue.
Concerns have been raised regarding the three-year delay in road construction for Vinares towers 5-8, as well as the ongoing suspension of parking area development for towers 1-4.
Protesters highlighted that HDC has breached the agreements made for the sale of Vinares apartments. They noted that despite submitting numerous concerns to HDC, they have received no response, and that even when inquiries are made via email, the corporation provides only vague and general replies.
Furthermore, the protesters attempted to meet with senior officials of the Housing Development Corporation (HDC). Although the demonstrators gathered at the HDC office carrying placards inscribed with various grievances, officials refused to meet with them, citing a busy schedule.
However, protesters asserted that they will continue to hold regular demonstrations until their issues are resolved or a satisfactory response is provided to their concerns. They expressed significant frustration over the lack of essential services, noting that despite paying a monthly maintenance fee of 1,000 Rufiyaa in addition to their rent, they are not receiving the services they are entitled to.
Protests have erupted over the Housing Development Corporation's (HDC) failure to manage the Vinares flats. This follows a formal letter previously submitted to the HDC by 510 residents, highlighting numerous structural and maintenance issues and demanding immediate solutions.
