President Muizzu’s administration lacks a clear policy: MP Ziyad
MP Ziyad stated that while the government claims combining presidential and parliamentary elections is intended to reduce costs, their actions have failed to gain public trust. He accused the ruling PNC of utilizing state employment and financial influence for campaigning, further noting that the administration continues to spend excessively on political appointments and foreign embassies.

The Member of Parliament for the Vaikaradhoo constituency, Hussain Ziyad, has criticized President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s administration, claiming it lacks clear policies. Ziyad remarked that the government’s only approach to policy consists of "a notepad and a black briefcase."
Speaking on RaajjeTV's "Noonekey" campaign program, MP Ziyad stated that the government initially cited cost reduction as the primary justification for holding the presidential and parliamentary elections concurrently. However, he noted that the public remained unconvinced by this reasoning due to the government's subsequent actions.
Emphasizing the government's determination to succeed in the referendum to align the two elections at any cost, MP Ziyad stated that a clear policy must be presented to the public. He remarked that the PNC lacks a genuine policy, relying instead on a "notebook and a black briefcase" as their substitute for governance.
MP Ziyad stated that they are monitoring the number of unemployed individuals in each island and identifying the most urgent needs of families to facilitate the awarding of job promotions.
The focus is always on employment. How many youth in this island remain unemployed? Which family must be given a job to secure their votes? Who needs what favor or arrangement to get this done? That is the extent of their policy. All they carry is a notepad and a black bag; that is their entire strategy. This is what happens when you face the people with such tactics. You don't hear the public talking about expenditure. How can they even discuss costs? They claim spending 50 million on an election held once every five years is too much, yet they spend 54 million every single month on embassies. Fifty-four million a month. The residents of these islands are well aware that the number of staff has increased beyond capacity. They know exactly who was appointed. This council reduced the number of seats from five to three, yet they have appointed five political staff at double the salary. The local residents see this happening. Regardless of what some might say on television, these are the facts on the ground.Hussain Ziyad, Member of Parliament for the Vaikaradhoo constituency.
Furthermore, Member Ziyad stated that the PNC is conducting its campaign in a distinct style.
He alleged that employees were forced to attend and that they were compensated financially for their participation.
He noted that, as a result, the costs for all activities conducted by the PNC would be exceptionally high. He further stated that despite the PNC's high spending, Maldivian citizens remain highly vigilant regarding elections and are well aware of the current situation.
