A serious collision has occurred between a Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) tugboat and a speedboat.
Police reported on Saturday that an accident involving an MPL tugboat and a speedboat occurred in the waters off the MPL area. The incident was reported at approximately 10:39 a.m. on March 21, 2026.
Police stated that the speedboat captain sustained injuries in the accident and is currently receiving treatment at IGMH. According to the police, preliminary reports indicate that the captain's injuries are not life-threatening.
Police further stated that, in addition to the captain, three crew members were on board the speedboat at the time of the accident.
The collision resulted in significant damage to the speedboat.
The police are currently investigating the matter.
