Addu City Mayor and mayoral candidate Ali Nizar has stated that if the current administration possessed any sense of integrity, they would not dare approach the people of Addu to seek their votes.
He made these remarks while addressing the MDP's "Heyvalla Thayyaaru" rally.
Nizar stated that it is as clear as daylight that nothing has been achieved for Addu City. He noted that it is unacceptable for Addu to have seen no progress as the administration approaches its third year in office. Nizar further remarked that the current government has failed to complete projects initiated by the previous administration. He highlighted that when the MDP was in power, they fielded government candidates with a sense of pride.
"In the previous council elections, the grievance raised against the government was that people could not access their homes due to ongoing road construction. Imagine 100 kilometers of roads; they have been completed from Gan all the way to Hithadhoo. These areas have been developed to a high standard," he said.
Nizar has criticized the current administration, describing it as a government lacking in ideology, vision, and philosophy. He further stated that a government should only approach the public after having delivered on the people's needs. He added that under any other circumstances, it is foolish to promote individuals as government-backed candidates. He urged the public to vote for the MDP in the upcoming council elections for the sake of Addu City's future.
