MDP will secure a different future for the people, free from the relentless corruption and theft of this administration: Shifaz
Shifaz stated that the government's corruption and incompetence have caused significant hardships for citizens in accessing basic services. He noted that national governance has deteriorated to the point where the public is being deprived of essentials like fuel and gas, prompting the MDP to lead a national reform movement to overcome this crisis. Furthermore, he vowed that those complicit in the government's illegal activities would be held accountable and brought to justice.

Former Vice President of the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), Mohamed Shifaz, has stated that the corruption and theft within President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s administration have become intolerable, asserting that the MDP will secure a better future for the citizens.
Speaking at an MDP pickup rally on Wednesday evening, Shifaz stated that the Maldivian people must remain vigilant regarding the ongoing conflict in the Middle East and closely monitor the evolving situation.
Shifaz stated that the country has faced a gas shortage even before the start of Ramadan, accusing the government of being deceptive about the situation. He further noted that there is a growing fear of a fuel crisis due to ongoing conflicts.
However, Shifaz stated that the Maldives is a country that can be successfully developed through effective management. He added that the current administration's corruption has placed an undue burden on the public, leaving them unable to find relief or financial stability.
Furthermore, Shifaz stated that the MDP-led efforts would bring transformative change to the country, adding that those supporting President Muizzu would be held accountable through investigations to ensure justice is served.
This country is spiraling into a crisis, facing acute shortages of fuel, medicine, and cooking gas. Even before the start of Ramadan, gas supplies ran dry, and now, before the holy month has even concluded, we are running out of fuel. We cannot live in a Maldives where we are forced to ride our motorcycles in pitch darkness. The era of sleeping in total darkness is a part of our past that we have already left behind. This is a nation that could be managed effectively; regardless of global circumstances, it is a country that should be running smoothly. Instead, we are struggling to breathe because of the theft, corruption, and malpractice of those in power. Therefore, I urge you to remain ready for every call to action to overcome this hardship. When I ask you to stand ready, I mean that we are the ones who must transform this country. We are moving toward that change. As we undertake this transformation, God willing, we will not allow anyone to escape accountability—be it the President of the Elections Commission or the Attorney General—who assists Dr. Muizzu in shaping the country in this manner. Justice will catch up with each of them individually.Mohamed Shifaz, former Vice President of the MDP
Shifaz stated that rights have historically been secured through hard work and perseverance, and that the MDP remains committed to that ongoing effort. He further asserted that despite the current administration's attempts to restrict and suppress these liberties, the party will ensure that every right guaranteed by the Constitution is restored to the people.
