Power outages have been reported across the connected islands of Addu City.
Speaking to RaajjeMV, Addu City Mayor Ali Nizar stated that the power outage occurred around 10:40 a.m. However, Nizar noted that the official cause of the interruption has not yet been determined.
Residents of Addu who spoke with RaajjeMV expressed deep concern, stating that a large part of the city has been plunged into total darkness.
"We are hearing reports that an engine has failed. This is unacceptable. The power keeps cutting out repeatedly, and there seems to be no permanent solution in sight," a local resident told this newspaper.
The interconnected islands of Addu City continue to face frequent power outages due to an inadequate electricity supply. Despite setting multiple deadlines, the current administration has yet to resolve the ongoing issue.
Despite Fenaka Corporation’s assurances that it is working tirelessly to find a permanent solution to the ongoing power crisis in Addu City, the utility provider has failed to deliver a reliable service to the public.
