Motorcycle ridden by Moosa Ali Jaleel during rally is registered to Customs; annual fee payment currently overdue
The government is facing intense public backlash following revelations that Moosa Ali Jaleel used a Maldives Customs Service motorcycle during a PNC political rally. Concerns over the misuse of state resources have been compounded by findings that the vehicle’s annual fee had expired and it was displaying a registration plate belonging to another vehicle. Critics are highlighting a double standard in law enforcement, noting that while authorities strictly penalize and tow private citizens' vehicles for minor violations, high-ranking figures appear to operate above the law, an act the public condemns as unacceptable.

RaajjeMV has confirmed that the motorcycle ridden by Moosa Ali Jaleel during the PNC-organized motorcycle rally is registered to Maldives Customs Service.
A reliable source has confirmed that the motorcycle used by Moosa Ali Jaleel during the PNC rally on Friday afternoon belongs to Maldives Customs Service. The vehicle’s registration number is A0C6799.
Questions have been raised regarding how Moosa Ali Jaleel, the PNC candidate for the Male' City mayoral by-election, obtained a state-owned motorcycle. Furthermore, records indicate that the vehicle's annual fee registration expired on February 28, 2024.
The motorcycle imported last year was operated using the license plate AA0C P6796. However, records show that this specific number is officially registered to a 2014 model motorcycle.

Efforts to obtain a comment from Customs regarding this matter have been unsuccessful.
Photos of the two motorcycles circulating on social media have sparked widespread public criticism of the government. Critics are questioning whether operating motorcycles with identical license plates is permitted and have raised concerns regarding the selective enforcement of the law. Many have also noted that it is not enough for Moosa Ali Jaleel to be seen posing on a 1300cc motorcycle, asserting that there must be accountability for this matter.
Noting that vehicle registration is centralized under a single ministry, some members of the public have accused the government of acting oppressively toward ordinary citizens. They highlighted that the current administration is towing and damaging numerous vehicles parked on the streets simply due to discrepancies in their registered zones.
