If a PNC council is elected, they will not even lift a pen without instructions from the President's Office: Yauqoob
Former Member of Parliament Yauqoob Abdulla stated that councilors from the ruling PNC would be unable to work independently without influence from the President's Office. He argued that if government candidates are elected, they would prioritize following central directives over local development, emphasizing that electing opposition MDP councilors is crucial for the genuine benefit and welfare of the people.

Former Member of Parliament for the Dhaandhoo constituency, Yauqoob Abdulla, has stated that if candidates from the ruling People's National Congress (PNC) are elected in the upcoming Local Council and Women's Development Committee elections, they will not even be able to lift a pen without the authorization or direction of the President's Office.
Speaking on RaajjeTV’s "Fala Surukhee" program, Yauqoob stated that the current administration's conduct leaves the Maldivian people with no choice but to elect councils from opposition parties or individuals who do not support the government.
The reason is that if a council belonging to the government’s PNC is elected to a flagship island, they will not even lift a pen without the President’s Office's instruction. They will not take a single action that contradicts the directives of the President’s Office; they simply would not dare.Former Member of Parliament for the Dhaandhoo constituency, Yauqoob Abdulla
Yauqoob stated that even if a PNC council is elected, they would be unable to serve the public even if they wished to do so. He attributed this to the extent of the government's influence and control over them, noting that this reality is already evident among various government-aligned members and those currently holding official positions.
Yauqoob stated that, consequently, those members would be unable to deliver any progress for their islands, regardless of their intentions. He reiterated that the only glimmer of hope lies in electing councils representing the MDP. Yauqoob emphasized that it is only through this path that the public will benefit and meaningful development can be brought to the islands.
