Male' City Mayor Adam Azim has stated that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's efforts to consolidate elections are a tactic to avoid engaging with the public.
Speaking at a campaign event for the Henveiru West constituency, the Mayor noted that even while elections remain separate, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu recently stated that he has no desire to travel to the islands or meet with the people.
The Mayor noted that the President is currently visiting the area, but asserted that without an upcoming election, such visits to the people would be non-existent. He remarked that presidents tend to visit locations more frequently only when elections are on the horizon. The Mayor urged the public to reject and defeat the proposal to consolidate elections if they truly desire continued development.
Even with elections currently held separately, the President recently stated that he has no desire to travel to the islands or meet with the people. This is the current situation. Therefore, if elections are consolidated, he will have even less reason to visit. Consequently, if you truly desire development, I urge you to reject the proposal to combine elections and ensure this effort fails.Male' City Mayor Adam Azim
