Naveen officially retires from the police service
Commissioner of Police Ismail Naveen has announced his retirement after 32 years of distinguished service in the police force. Having held various senior leadership positions within the institution since 1994, Naveen stated that his decision to step down was made following extensive deliberation.

Ismail Naveen, the second Commissioner of Police to serve under the current administration, retired from the police service on Wednesday.
Ismail Naveen was appointed as the Commissioner of Police on June 10, 2025.
In a message sent to the police executive leadership on Sunday, Naveen announced his decision to apply for retirement from the post of Commissioner. He stated that he reached this conclusion after careful consideration of various factors, having contemplated the move for some time.
In a social media post on Wednesday, Naveen announced that his retirement coincides with the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan. Naveen retired following 32 years of service in the police force.
Naveen joined the Maldives Police Service on July 7, 1994. Throughout his 32-year career in the force, he has served across various departments within the institution. In this regard, he has held leadership roles in operational, investigative, and administrative and support sectors. Prior to his appointment as Deputy Commissioner of Police, he served as the Head of the Corporate Services Directorate.
