Following the arrest of two individuals for exploiting a minor to transport narcotics, Commissioner of Police Ismail Naveen has pledged to seek the maximum legal penalties for those who involve children in criminal activities. Emphasizing that ensuring a safe environment for children is a fundamental state responsibility, the Commissioner stated that the police will prioritize taking decisive action against those who exploit minors in gang-related crimes and cases of sexual abuse.

The Commissioner of Police made these remarks following the arrest of two individuals accused of exploiting a minor to transport narcotics and involving the child in criminal activity.
In a social media post, the Commissioner of Police stated that ensuring the rights of children and building a safe, secure society for them is one of the state's most vital responsibilities. The Commissioner further emphasized that the Maldives Police Service will show no leniency toward those who exploit children or involve them in criminal activities. He assured that such cases will be thoroughly investigated and that the police will seek the maximum legal penalties for perpetrators.
Authorities have arrested Hassan Nuaz (28), of M. Nazleemanzil, Male', and Ahmed Naeem (39), of V. Satellite, Male', on allegations of exploiting a minor to transport narcotics and involving the child in criminal activity.
The Maldives Police Service is taking targeted action against individuals who groom and exploit children, coercing them into involvement in drug trafficking, gang-related crimes, and sexual abuse.
