Rauf, who previously resigned to avoid dismissal over disciplinary issues and later contested the PNC primary, has been reappointed to the bench following an unsuccessful bid for a parliamentary seat and a period of active political involvement.

Abdulla Rauf Ibrahim, who unsuccessfully contested the People's National Congress (PNC) primary, has been appointed as a judge of the High Court.
The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) decided to appoint new judges to the High Court and the Criminal Court during its meeting held last Monday. Former High Court Judge Abdulla Rauf Ibrahim has been reappointed to the High Court bench, while Ismail Shafeeu, who previously served as a judge at the Criminal Court, has also been appointed to the appellate court.
Rauf resigned from his position as a High Court judge while the Judicial Service Commission (JSC), during the MDP administration, was seeking his removal from the bench. The investigation followed allegations that he had accepted a government-issued flat during former President Abdulla Yameen’s presidency. Following his resignation, he contested the Keyodhoo constituency in the parliamentary elections under the ticket of the current ruling party, PNC. However, he was unsuccessful in the election. Many now characterize Rauf as a political activist for the PNC.
Rauf previously served at the High Court for more than 10 years. He resigned from the bench after a decision was made to remove him from office following a proven misconduct case involving his acceptance of a government-allocated flat during former President Abdulla Yameen’s administration.
