Ahmed Niyaz appointed as Criminal Court Judge
The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has announced that Niyaz was sworn in as a Criminal Court judge on Saturday, following an interview process and a formal recommendation for his appointment under the commission's recent recruitment call for the bench.

Ahmed Niyaz has been appointed as a judge of the Criminal Court.
The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has announced that Niyaz was sworn in as a judge of the Criminal Court on Saturday. His appointment follows an interview process conducted under a recruitment call for the court, after which he was recommended for the bench.
The oath of office was administered by Supreme Court Justice Abdulla Hameed during a ceremony held at the Supreme Court of the Maldives.
Niyaz earned his Bachelor of Laws (Honours) from Villa College. With over 12 years of service in the judiciary, he was serving as the Chief Magistrate of the L. Kalaidhoo Magistrate Court at the time of his appointment to the Criminal Court. Niyaz was first appointed as a magistrate on November 13, 2013.
