Former President Solih receives a warm welcome in Sh. Foakaidhoo
At the invitation of the Sh. Foakaidhoo Island Council, former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih visited the island to inaugurate a newly developed volleyball court and a local MDP campaign hub. During the visit, the former president is scheduled to meet with residents and participate in campaign activities for the upcoming local council elections.

Former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih received a warm welcome from the residents of Sh. Foakaidhoo upon his arrival at the island on Saturday, following an official invitation from the Foakaidhoo Island Council.
Former President Solih arrived on the island on Saturday evening. A large crowd, including children and the elderly, gathered at the harbor area to welcome him. As they greeted the Former President, members of the public expressed their gratitude for the projects he initiated in Foakaidhoo during the previous MDP administration. They thanked him for ending the island's isolation and ensuring its inclusion in the nation's development agenda.
During his visit, the Former President officially inaugurated the newly developed modern volleyball court on the island. The facility was completed by the local council to meet contemporary standards. The outdoor volleyball court was developed entirely through the council's budget. While the first phase of the project involved the installation of a modern turf surface, the second phase is set to include the construction of a surrounding fence.
Additionally, Former President Solih inaugurated the MDP "Noo Bahaaru" campaign hub. This center was established to coordinate campaign activities for the upcoming local council elections. To mark the opening, President Solih ceremoniously hoisted the MDP flag. Furthermore, the Former President is scheduled to meet with the MDP candidates contesting the council elections from Foakaidhoo, as well as their leadership team. An MDP campaign rally is also slated to take place on Saturday night.
During this visit, Former President Solih is scheduled to meet with MDP members in Foakaidhoo. Additionally, he is set to join candidates in the island's door-to-door campaign activities for the upcoming council elections.
During Solih’s administration, numerous development projects were initiated and successfully completed in Foakaidhoo. Key achievements include the establishment of water and sewerage systems, harbor upgrades, the construction of a community center, and the development of an extension building for the island’s health center.
