The Road Development Corporation (RDC) has signed an agreement with China’s XCMG Group to procure heavy machinery.
In a social media post, RDC announced that a significant agreement has been signed under the special initiative of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu. This agreement aims to resolve the shortage of heavy machinery required for infrastructure development projects across the Maldives.
RDC has signed an agreement with XCMG, the world's third-largest heavy machinery manufacturer, and Infrastructure Development Solutions (IDS) to acquire the essential equipment required for its large-scale projects.
RDC has stated that the "Business Cooperation Agreement" signed in China on Thursday marks a significant milestone under the existing Memorandum of Understanding between RDC and Infrastructure Development Solution. According to RDC, this agreement facilitates the procurement of 230 units of equipment, including specialized asphalt machinery essential for road construction projects across the Maldives.
Furthermore, XCMG and IDS have decided to collaborate on establishing a dedicated service center in the Maldives to provide maintenance and repair services, alongside a retail outlet for spare parts.
The agreement was signed by Ibrahim Nazeem, Managing Director of IDS and RDC, on behalf of IDS. Representing XCMG was Mr. Tu Hui, the company’s General Manager for the South Asia region. The ceremony was also attended by Mr. Zhai Kun, General Manager of XCMG’s Global Business Division, and Mohamed Nabeeh Afeef, Deputy Managing Director of RDC.
