EC has opened the complaint period for the 2026 local council elections voter registry, with submissions due by 18 January 2026 at 3pm. Citizens can verify their registration via SMS to 1414 or through the official website, and submit complaints through My Portal with supporting documents. A total of 294,937 individuals are eligible to vote, including 144,527 women and 150,410 men.

The Elections Commission (EC) has released the voter registry for the 2026 Local Council and Women’s Development Committee Elections, scheduled for 4 April 2026.
The commission has officially opened the period for submitting complaints regarding the list.
The registry is accessible via the government gazette and the commission's official website.
Citizens can also verify their registration status by sending an SMS in the format “VR [ID Card Number]” to 1414.
Individuals wishing to submit complaints or disputes regarding the registry can do so through the commission's “My Portal” (my.elections.gov.mv). The deadline for submissions is 18 January 2026, at 3pm.
EC has emphasized that this period is intended to ensure the accuracy of the voter list. Complaints may include requests to add names, remove names, or correct inaccurate personal information.
Any request must be supported by copies of official documentation. Political parties are required to submit grievances through the designated “Simedha Portal.”
