Sattar elected President of MOC
A seasoned leader secures another term as Maldives Olympic Committee President, paving the way for continued athletic excellence.

Mohamed Abdulla Sattar has been re-elected as President of the Maldives Olympic Committee (MOC), continuing his tenure in the role he currently holds.

In the Maldives Olympic Committee (MOC) election held on Monday, Mohamed Abdulla Sattar was the sole candidate for the presidency. As a result, Sattar, who also serves as President of the Swimming Association of Maldives as well, has secured a second term unopposed.

Sattar, currently serving his fourth term as President of the Swimming Association of Maldives, was first elected as President of the Maldives Olympic Committee in 2021. While he faced an opposing candidate in that initial election, he ran unopposed in the most recent vote.

The term of the new Executive Committee of MOC elected on Monday runs from 2025 to 2029.

For the new term, Ahmed Ismail, nominated by the Handball Association, and Ahmed Munthaqim, nominated by the Chess Association, who are currently serving as Vice Presidents of MOC, have been elected as Vice Presidents.

Musthafa Mohamed also contested for the position of Vice President in the election. His name was nominated for the position of Vice President by the Athletics Association. Musthafa is the President of the Athletics Association of Maldives.

The Executive Committee of MOC consists of a total of 14 members. This includes the President, two Vice Presidents, six members from Olympic sports, two members from non-Olympic sports, two female members, and a member representing the Athletes Commission.

For the upcoming term, the six seats for Olympic sports have been won by Volleyball Association of Maldives (VAM), Table Tennis Association, Maldives Basketball Association, Cricket Board of Maldives, Tennis Association of Maldives, and Maldives Surfing Association.

In addition to this, the seats for non-Olympic sports were won by Maldives Pool Billiard Association and Body Building Association of Maldives. Further, the two female member seats were won by Netball Association of Maldives and Shooting Association of Maldives.
