High Commissioner of India to the Maldives, Munu Mahawar, has assured that India's support for the development of the Maldives will remain unwavering.
The Indian HC made these remarks during a farewell call on President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
The meeting was held at the President’s Office on Thursday.
According to the office, the president expressed gratitude to the Indian HC for his assistance in advancing the relations between the two countries during Thursday’s meeting.
The president also noted that the high commissioner’s tenure was a significant phase during which the friendship and ties between the Maldives and India were strengthened.
During the meeting, the Indian HC assured that India's assistance for the development of the Maldives would always continue and highlighted the leadership shown by the Maldivian leader and the spirit of cooperation in efforts to overcome challenges.
The Indian HC also stated that this further strengthens the relationship between the two countries.
The president and the Indian HC shed light on "a vision for economic and maritime security partnership" formulated between the two countries during the president's state visit to India in October, noting that this paved the way for further expanding India's contribution to the Maldives' development.
The president and HC shed light on the progress being made with India's assistance in bringing economic reforms and enhancing social security in the Maldives. Further, the president and the HC assured that the current trajectory of the relationship between the two countries would continue and that projects being carried out in the Maldives with Indian assistance would be completed on time. They also discussed potential areas for future collaboration.
Before concluding the farewell call, the president offered his best wishes to the Indian HC and expressed keen interest in further enhancing ties in matters of the Maldives' development.
