Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid has expressed gratitude to the Indian government for its contributions to enhance the skills and competence of the civil servants across government institutions of the Maldives.
He said this during a meeting held with the Director General of the National Centre for Good Governance (NCGG) of India, Bharat Lal.
The meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sunday.
Welcoming the NCGG Director General to the Maldives, FM Shahid emphasized on the strong bilateral relationship between the Maldives and India.
As such, he highlighted the beneficial contribution towards enhancing human resource development in the Maldives.
Shedding light on the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the Civil Service Commission of the Maldives and the NCGG, the Maldivian foreign minister expressed appreciation to the neighboring country’s government for conducting multiple capacity-building programmes as a means to enhance the ability and efficiency of civil servants across government institutions in the archipelago nation.
FM Shahid went on to express his hope that the capacity-building programmes will gradually increase and solidify the people-to-people contact between the two countries.
Director General Bharat is currently in the Maldives on an official visit at the invitation of the President of the Civil Service Commission of the Maldives.
He will be concluding his trip and departing on November 22.
