Maldives women's national volleyball team departed to Philippines on Sunday, to take part in the Asian Senior Women's Volleyball Championship.

Volleyball Association of Maldives (VAM)'s president Mohamed "Latheefbe" Latheef and other officials had sent the team off on Sunday night.

The Senior Women's Volleyball Championship is to be held in two cities in the Philippines- Alonte Sports Arena in Biñan, Laguna and Muntinlupa Sports Complex in Muntinlupa, Metro Manila.

Speaking to the media before their departure, the team's head coach Mohamed Nadheem said that the team "is fully prepared" for the tournament and that he was certain that team could produce a good result.

He said that the team was able to fully prepare for the championship, despite the limited time to train.

Team's Captain Aishath Shaffa said that the players have been working "very hard" to prepare for the tournament, adding that the goal is to show their best game in the tournament.
