Work on the road construction project in Thoddoo island of Alif Alif atoll, has commenced.
Minister of Dhivehi Language, Culture and Heritage Adam Naseer Ibrahim inaugurated the project during a ceremony held in Thoddoo for the occasion.
Managing Director of the Road Development Corporation (RDC) Brigadier General (Rtd) Ali Zuhair and senior officials of the company alongside council members of Thoddoo island, joined the ceremony.
The project was contracted to RDC on 5 September 2023.
The Thoddoo road development project is valued at MVR 77,426,106.17.
A total of five roads stretching up to 2.84 kilometers, will be developed as part of this project.
The project entails the installation of a storm water network, gutters for water drainage and junctions for utility lines required for water and sewerage.
Further, RDC will be required to install street lights, speed breakers and road signs.
Instead of tarring the roads, RDC will be building the roads layered with cement blocks.
RDC revealed that the vehicles and required materials and equipment for the project have been taken to the project site.
