The ‘Dhon Bandaarain Handh’aanee Mauraz’ has been officially inaugurated.

First Lady Sajidha Mohamed officially inaugurated the special exhibition to commemorate Huravee Day in the Maldives, on Sunday.

The exhibition was an initiative of the Ministry of Dhivehi Language, Culture and Heritage in collaboration with the National Centre for Cultural Heritage.

It will proceed through December 21.

Honoring the first Sultan in the ‘Huraa’ dynasty who liberated the Maldives from the grip of south Indian invaders, the exhibition features relics belonging to Sultan al-Ghazi al-Hassan Izzudddin or ‘Dhon Bandaarain’ and some of the armor used in the past.

Some of the artefacts belonging to ‘Dhon Bandaarain’ include the turban he wore, the lance he used, and the coins he made during his reign.

FL Sajidha took a tour of the exhibition and observed the artefacts on display, following its inauguration.

She also observed the museum's other collections and inquired about them.

Alongside the exhibition, the Ministry of Dhivehi Language, Culture and Heritage also initiated a children's festival to commemorate Huravee Day, on December 15.

The administration of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu is conducting several programs to celebrate Huravee Day in the Maldives.
