Former Nolhivaranfaru MP Mohamed Nasheed Abdulla (Mosta) has declared that if the Ras Male' project must be halted, he would go to any lengths—even swimming there—to stop it, asserting that it is the responsibility of Maldivian citizens to rescue the nation from any peril it faces.
Speaking at an emergency rally titled "Dhivehinge Bin Dhivehinnah" on Saturday night, Nasheed stated that throughout history, whenever the Maldives has faced a crisis, it was not foreigners but the nation's own sons and daughters who came to its rescue. He asserted that this time, too, it will be Maldivians themselves who save the country from its current situation.
Nasheed stated that the children of the Maldives remain ready to stand as human shields, both today and tomorrow, should it be necessary to protect the nation.
Whether it be today or tomorrow, I am prepared to put my life on the line to save this nation. If it becomes necessary to halt the Ras Male' project, I will do whatever it takes to stop it, even if it means swimming there myself.Mohamed Nasheed Abdulla
Referring to the administration of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, Nasheed stated that the government's tenure is nearing its end. He further asserted that President Muizzu must be brought before the law to face justice and serve a prison sentence.
Furthermore, Nasheed specifically named President Muizzu, Attorney General Ahmed Usham, and Minister of Construction and Infrastructure Dr. Abdulla Muththalib, asserting that those who betray the nation must face appropriate punishment. He also alleged that efforts are underway to sell land in this region to create a safe haven for foreign Zionists, and called for an immediate end to such activities.
