Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has unveiled its campaign poster for this year’s presidential election.
The poster was unveiled at their campaign site on Friday night.
Former President Mohamed Nasheed, MDP’s leader, has won the party ticket after being the sole contestant in the party’s primary election.
His campaign manager is North-Hithadhoo MP Mohamed Aslam.
Speaking at the unveiling ceremony, MDP Vice President Mohamed Shifaz said that posters will be distributed to every household with MDP members.
Shifaz vowed that the party’s new government will bring about a new policy and establish justice in the nation. He also said that they will move forward with a strong campaign and that there is no doubt that Nasheed is their candidate whose name will be in the ballot box.
The Elections Commission (EC) and various government officials have said that the self-exiled opposition leader cannot run in the presidential election since he is yet to serve his prison sentence. The EC had even gone as far as to attempt to stop the MDP primary election in May by using police officers to confiscate ballot boxes.
