Investors from Turkey are willing to make reciprocal investments in the Maldives, says Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Türkiye Mehmet Nuri Ersoy.
The Turkish minister made these remarks during a courtesy call paid on newly inaugurated President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu on Friday.
Taking to Twitter following the inauguration ceremony, Minister Ersoy noted that relations between the Maldives and Turkey had strengthened especially in recent years under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
The Turkish minister held bilateral meetings with MPs and those in business to explore possible collaborations between Maldives and Turkey, on the sidelines of his visit.
He went on to express his belief that relations and the friendship Turkey has with Maldives will continue to grow stronger within the framework of mutual understanding and cooperation.
Minister Ersoy called on President Muizzu at Kurumba Maldives Resort, following his inauguration as the eighth president of Maldives on Friday evening, at the Republic Square.
The Maldivian leader expressed gratitude to the Turkish minister for participating in his inauguration, during the courtesy call.
Extending greetings, well wishes and congratulations on winning the presidential election this year, the Turkish minister invited President Muizzu to undertake a visit to Turkey in the near future.
He went on to state that the government of Türkiye remains hopeful of fortifying partnerships with the Maldives in tourism, education, and travel industries by expanding the number of flights to the Maldives.
In addition to this, he added that investors from Turkey are willing to make reciprocal investments in the Maldives.
President Muizzu expressed commitment to enhance bilateral ties with Türkiye, given the similar cultures and beliefs shared between the two countries.
Türkiye’s Minister of Culture and Tourism was among the many foreign diplomats and dignitaries who arrived in the Maldives to take part in the new president’s inauguration from around the globe.
