A group of Chinese investors were threatened by a gang, forcing them to seek protection from the Police.

Police Spokesperson Ahmed Shifan reported to Raajje.mv that the group was attacked Monday night. The case was reported the same night. He said that no arrests have been made in connection to the attack.

Eyewitnesses report that the group of Chinese individuals were in a hotel located in Henveyru ward. An eyewitness reported to Raajje.mv that a group had gathered near the hotel, threatened two Chinese individuals. He said the group had demanded a “cut” from the project.

Raajje.mv understands the Chinese nationals were from CMCU Engineering company, involved in Zikra mosque construction and social housing projects in the second phase of Hulhumalé development.
