The first Resident High Commissioner of Australia to Maldives, David Jessup, has paid a courtesy call on Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdulla Shahid.
The meeting took place following the presentation of his Credentials to President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, on Monday. The meeting with Minister Shahid was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During the meeting, Minister Shahid extended warm congratulations to the Australian High Commissioner and thanked Australia for its decision to establish a resident mission in the Maldives.
The Australian High Commissioner conveyed his gratitude for the warm welcome extended to him and mentioned it was a privilege for him to take up the responsibility of representing the Government of Australia in the Maldives.
Highlighting the remarkable growth and expansion of the Australia-Maldives partnership over the years, the High Commissioner emphasized its positive impact in various areas, including climate change, security cooperation, and human resource development.
High Commissioner Jessup was accompanied by Deputy High Commissioner Andrew Hodges.
Minister Shahid was joined by State Minister Ahmed Khaleel, Secretary-Bilateral Dr. Hala Hameed, Joint Secretary Shiuneen Rasheed, and Director Adam Hamid.
