The Island Council of Bandidhoo Island of Dhaalu Atoll has expressed gratitude for the administration's developmental plans for islands with smaller population sizes.

Bandidhoo Island Council expressed this during their meeting with President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on Sunday.

The meeting held at the President's Office was joined by Women's Development Committee (WDC) members of Bandidhoo Island as well.

At the meeting, the council members highlighted the administration's equitable development policy and expressed their gratitude for its developmental plans for islands with smaller population sizes. The members also noted the projects in Bandidhoo, which are in various stages of development, including the water and sewerage network, volleyball court and family park projects.

The council members also shared with the President the most pertinent needs of the island community. Discussions were held about waste management, boatyard, and other industrial activities.

Additionally, the council members highlighted the need for additional classrooms and a multipurpose hall in the school, coastal protection, a new building for the Secretariat of the Council and the development of an ice plant.

The WDC members shared with the President concerns related to financial and space constraints.

The President shared the latest details of the island's ongoing and planned developmental projects at the meeting. He said that the coastal protection project is in the bidding process and that funds have been earmarked in the budget to develop four classrooms.

The President also said that the administration would make efforts to add a multipurpose hall to the school and that the administration would work towards finding amicable solutions to other issues raised at the meeting.
