First Lady Fazna Ahmed has paid a courtesy call on the wife of the King of Bahrain and the President of the Supreme Council for Women, Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa.

During the meeting held on Thursday, First Lady Fazna applauded Princess Sabeeka for being a strong advocate, a role model and champion of women’s rights in Bahrain.

Highlighting her efforts in promoting gender equality and women’s rights as well as ensuring economic empowerment for women during her tenure as the Chair of the Supreme Council for Women of Bahrain, First Lady Fazna stated that the princess was an inspiration in the efforts to promote women's rights.

The Maldivian FL also expressed her passion for advocating for the rights of women and children.

The meeting also saw discussions revolving around the value of life skills and vocational education for girls.

First Lady Fazna and Princess Sabeeka also discussed prospective areas of collaboration.

FL Fazna went on to express hopes that Bahrain would extend support for the Maldives, in collaborative efforts to empower women and facilitate in overcoming the obstacles they face.

The Maldivian First Couple is currently on an official visit to Bahrain, upon the invitation of King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

They are to conclude their visit and return to Maldives on October 8.
