The community of Dhanbidhoo island in Laamu atoll remains grateful for the landmark development initiated by the incumbent administration, says the island council.
The island councilors met with President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on Thursday.
During the meeting held at the President’s Office, discussions were held on ongoing development projects as well as challenges and concerns facing the island community.
The meeting also saw President Solih inquiring the councilors about the needs of island residents.
Acknowledging the significant development progress the island has seen under the incumbent administration, the island councilors extended their gratitude to President Solih.
At the meeting, the president was briefed on difficulties and concerns of the island residents including issues related to the sewerage network, shortage of staff as well as amenities at the healthcare center.
The need for a school library, space constraints at the mosque and challenges caused by coastal erosion were also topics of discussion at the meeting.
Discussions also revolved around the dire need for proper waste management facilities, policing services and tourism development in the region.
The island councilors also stressed on the need to expedite the project to develop a causeway connecting the island with Isdhoo and Kalaidhoo Islands in the same atoll.
The meeting also saw President Solih inquiring about the most pertinent needs of the island community, at present.
The councilors were briefed on the latest updates on the ongoing development projects on the island as well.
President Solih assured Dhanbidhoo councilors that he would seek amicable solutions to the issues facing the island residents as well as the other concerns raised at the meeting.
