Buru Sports Club has secured a spot in the semifinals of the ongoing Second Division Football Tournament by Football Association of Maldives (FAM).
The team secured a spot in the semi as the team in the first spot of Group One. The team has one remaining game.
Buru Sports Club went head-to-head against Dhivehi Sifainge Club (DSC) on Tuesday.
Buru beat DSC 1 – 0 with a score by foreign player Bruno Arabell Pasemani 29 minutes into the first half.
Buru sits in the top of Group One after having emerged victorious in all games played so far, having secured 18 points.
Kuda Henveiru trails at second spot with nine points secured through five matches played.
Should Kuda Henveiru win their two remaining games in the Group Stage, the team will secure 15 points, which means that Buru has secured its place in the first spot.
JJ Sports Club which currently ranks third, secured six points. The remaining teams including fourth-spot Tent Sports Club, fifth place DSC, Club PK which comes sixth and seventh-place team Biss Buru Sports Club also has six points.
With no points, Capital City Sports Club remains at the bottom of the division table.
Buru will face PK in its final match, scheduled to kick off at 4pm, Saturday, at the National Stadium.
Further, the semifinals will take place on August 12, where Buru will go head-to-head against the team in the second spot of Group Two.
