Buru Sports Club has been given a spot in the first division of next season’s Dhivehi Premier League.
During Tuesday’s DPL qualifications game, a disagreement broke out among players from Buru and opponent Club Teenage at a time Buru was in the lead.
This caused the game to be halted.
The disagreement broke out at the 87th minute, at which time the scoreboard was at 3 – 1 with Buru in the lead.
A statement released by the Football Association of Maldives reads that the association’s Emergency Tournament Committee had conducted a probe and reached the decision to maintain the score as the final score of the game.
The committee has since claimed a win for Buru, in the unfinished game.
The decision was reached in accordance with the set guidelines.
Super United Sports (SUS) and Da Grande competed in the second qualifications game, later on Tuesday evening.
The two teams who stand a chance to play in the Dhivehi Premier League of the next season are the two teams that attain the highest number of points in the league round amongst the four teams.
