President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and First Lady Fazna Ahmed attended the closing ceremony of the "Majeedi Run", held as part of Majeediyya School’s 95th anniversary celebrations.
The closing ceremony was held at the Ekuveni Track in Malé City on Tuesday evening.
President's Office disclosed that President Solih and First Lady Fazna joined the run and completed some laps before the closing ceremony commenced.
The President then put out the torch designated for the event, marking the end of the event.
Vice President Faisal Naseem accompanied the First Couple at the closing event.
Tuesday's event saw the initiation of the official countdown for Majeediyya School’s centennial anniversary.
Many former students of the school participated in the event, including the Speaker of Parliament, former President Mohamed Nasheed, and Chief Justice Uz Ahmed Muthasim Adnan.
Government ministers and state dignitaries, current students, and members of the public, also took part in the event.
The "Majeedi Run" was held from May 13-17, 2022, themed "Majeediyya - Towards 100 years of nation-building" at the Ekuveni Track.
