Ministry of Tourism informs that the Ukraine tourist market has been severely impacted by the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict.

According to the Ministry's records, there are currently 750 Ukrainian visitors in the Maldives.

Per the Ministry, they are in regular contact with 106 Ukrainians who are staying in various tourist facilities.

Furthermore, according to Ministry data, there are currently 8,000 Russian tourists in the Maldives. The Ministry of Tourism is in touch with 600 Russian tourists who are staying in various tourist facilities.

Both Russia and Ukraine are among the top ten markets of Maldives tourism industry. Both of the country's have direct flights to the Maldives

Russia contributes the greatest number of arrivals to the Maldives so far, with 39,660 arrivals having been recorded from the country between January 1 – February 23.

Between January 1 and February 23, a total of 7,818 tourists landed in the Maldives from Ukraine.

While more than 250,000 tourists have visited the Maldives, Russia accounts for 15.8% of the total.

Earlier Maldives Immigration revealed that government has decided to extend the visas of Russian and Ukrainian tourists visiting the country. Maldives provides on-arrival visas to citizens of both of these nations.

While the Russian tourist arrival rate has yet to exhibit any substantial impact, the sanctions imposed on Russia are projected to have a considerable detrimental impact.
