Maldives Covid-19 death toll has been pushed to 294.
The Health Protection Agency (HPA) reported two Covid-19 fatalities on Wednesday evening, with which the total number of Covid-19 victims to have been reported this month has been pushed to 18.
As such, Wednesday’s first victim was a 97-year-old woman who became the 293rd victim in the island nation so far, after being pronounced dead by doctors at the Addu Covid Management Facility at around 05:15pm on Wednesday.
A little over an hour later HPA reported the 294th victim, aged 81.
Wednesday’s second victim succumbed to complications of the virus at around 06:54pm while he was receiving treatment at the Gaaf Dhaal Covid Management Facility.
This comes just a few days after the last fatality was reported, on Monday.
The total number of Covid-19 fatalities reported this year has been pushed to 32; 14 victims were confirmed in January.
The island nation reported the highest number of deaths in a single month since the pandemic began, during May 2021, when a total of 88 deaths were confirmed. June saw 50 Covid-19 fatalities, followed by 10 in July. Five Covid-19 fatalities were confirmed in August and in September. 12 Covid-19 fatalities were reported in October followed by seven in November. December also saw 12 Covid-19 fatalities.
212 Covid-19 victims were reported last year.
