The second phase of the road construction project in Dhuvaafaru island of Raa atoll has reached 65 percent progress.
The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) revealed that the second phase of the construction of major roads in Dhuvaafaru is well underway, having reached 65 percent completion so far.
Currently, MTCC is working to install sidewalk pavements which is at 65 percent progress.
Further, MTCC has completed the sub base and subgrade work of the carriageway, as well as the installation of the stormwater infiltration system.
The Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure contracted the project to MTCC on 9 September 2020.
The scope of the project included the construction of sidewalks measuring 6,923 square meters, a carriageway measuring 17,790 square meters as well as the construction of service lines with cable junctions.
The component to install a stormwater management system is also included as well as planting road lighting, sign boards and markings.
A total of nine roads will be constructed measuring up to 17,790 square meters in total, under this project.
The project is valued at MVR 37,871,786.
