Seven Maldivian police officers have completed the 71st and 72nd Indian Police Service training course.
The closing ceremony of the training programme took place at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy on Friday. Among the seven police officers who were in the programme, Sub-Inspector of Police Mohamed Nazim achieved the Trophy for Unarmed Combat as well as the ITBP Trophy for Rock Climbing.
The seven officers are included in two batches that received the opportunity to complete Phase Two of the course.
IPS training course is run by different states of India. The program teaches various aspects of investigation, forensic science, criminology, laws and other angles of police work.
This programme has been open to Maldives since 1998. Further, the current Commissioner of Police, Mohamed Hameed, and Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abdul Mannan Yoosuf completed this training in the year 2004.
Many other officers at the forefront of Maldives Police service have completed this course as well.
Four to six Maldivian police officers are given the opportunity to take the training every year, along with officers of other nations.
