A report linked to the grand corruption scandal involving the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) has been publicized.

The decision to publicize the report was made during a joint committee meeting on Wednesday.

A report linked to the grand corruption scandal involving the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) has been publicized by the People's Majlis.

The decision to publicize the report was made during a joint committee meeting on Wednesday.

The report details a list of 282 persons who are suspected to have received the embezzled funds, by the Commission on Corruption and Asset Recovery.

The list includes several senior government officials including those in the former administration as well as the incumbent administration such as officials representing the security forces, Maldives Police Service, independent institutions, parliament, judiciary as well as the Cabinet of Ministers. This totaled about 119 state officials.

Although incomplete, the list was publicized when the parliament received assurance that it would not hinder with the investigation, said MP and Joint Committee Chair Imthiyaz Fahmy.

Persons in public sector institutions funded by the government who remain employed despite being persons of interest in the MMPRC case are as follows;

  • MP for Nilendhoo constituency Abdul Muhsin Hameed
  • MP for Kudahuvadhoo constituency Ahmed Amir
  • MP Kendhikulhudhoo constituency Ahmed Eesa
  • Minister of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment Ahmed Mahloof (Minister Mahloof's case is in the process of being sent to the Prosecutor General's Office for prosecution)
  • MP for Eydhafushi constituency Ahmed Saleem (Red Wave Pvt. Ltd. is No. 254 on the alphabetical list of parties considered as points of interest in the MMPRC case; MP Ahmed Saleem is a shareholder at the company)
  • MP for Naifaru constituency Ahmed Shiyam
  • Ahmed Shuhad, currently employed at the Maldives Police Service
  • MP for Mahibadhoo constituency Ahmed Thariq
  • Akram Kamaaluddin, Minister of State for National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure (Status of investigation: Criminal case closed, Pending civil charges)
  • MP for Central-Henveiru constituency Ali Azim
  • MP for Kendhoo constituency Ali Hussain
  • Mayor-elect for Addu City Ali Nizar
  • President of the Football Association of Maldives Bassam Adeel Jaleel
  • Auditor General, Hassan Ziyath
  • MP for Faresmaathodaa constituency Hussain Mohamed Latheef
  • First Secretary at the High Commission of Maldives in Malaysia Ibrahim Huzam
  • MP for Mulaku constituency Ibrahim Naseer
  • Ibrahim Naveen Zubair, currently employed with the Maldives National Defense Force
  • MP for Guraidhoo constituency Ibrahim Riza
  • MP for Maradhoo constituency Ibrahim Shareef
  • Member-elect for the Male' City Council Ibrahim Shujau
  • Ismail Shameem Adam, currently employed at the Maldives Police Service
  • Deputy Ambassador of the Maldives to Japan Mohamed Ameeth Ahmed Manoj
  • Mohamed Dawood, currently employed at the Maldives Police Service
  • MP for Guraidhoo constituency Mohamed Ghassan Maumoon
  • Mohamed Jawaz, currently employed with the Maldives National Defense Force
  • MP for Dhangethi constituency Mohamed Nazim
  • MP for Maavashu constituency Mohamed Saeed
  • President of the Athletics Association of Maldives Mohamed Tholal
  • Deputy Leader of the Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) Moosa Zameer
  • Secretary General at the Dhivehi Rayyithunge Party (DRP) Mustafa Abdulla
  • MP for Villingilli constituency Saud Hussain

Two former ministers of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's cabinet were also included in the list, including Mohamed Maleeh Jamaal, the ex-Minister of Communication, and former Minister of Fisheries Zaha Waheed
