Maldives secures Indian Ocean's Leading Destination once again

Maldives has once again secured the title of the Indian Ocean's Leading Destination at the World Travel Awards (WTA).

Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) disclosed that Maldives won four prestigious awards at the World Travel Awards (WTA) 2023, Indian Ocean Category.

The accolades were presented at the illustrious World Travel Awards Africa and Indian Ocean Gala Ceremony, held at the world-renowned Atlantis The Royal in Dubai on October 15, 2023.

In addition to the Indian Ocean's Leading Destination 2023 title, the country also won the Indian Ocean's Leading Beach Destination 2023 and the Indian Ocean's Leading Dive Destination 2023.

Since 2020, Maldives has continued to secure these three titles. This year marks the fourth consecutive year that Maldives has secured these three titles.

Additionally, MMPRC was awarded the title of “Indian Ocean's Leading Tourist Board 2023” in recognition of the hard work, dedication, and unique campaigns through which MMPRC has been marketing the Maldives worldwide.

MMPRC notes that the significance of these recognitions by the tourism industry cannot be overstated. The company states that this underscores the Maldives' standing as an unparalleled tourist destination, showcases the country's commitment to delivering unforgettable experiences to visitors from around the world, and reinforces the continued efforts of MMPRC in promoting and developing the nation's tourism sector.

Established in 1993, the World Travel Awards is widely regarded as the most esteemed honors program in the global travel and tourism industry. Symbolizing the ultimate endorsement of excellence, the awards aim to recognize, reward, and celebrate achievement across all sectors of the travel and tourism industry on a global scale.

The Maldives has also been nominated for multiple awards in the highly sought-after WTA World’s Category, the most prestigious of all WTA categories.

The awards for which the Maldives is nominated for are World's Leading Destination 2023, World's Leading Beach Destination 2023, World's Leading Dive Destination 2023, World's Leading Honeymoon Destination 2023, World's Leading Island Destination 2023, and World's Most Romantic Destination 2023. MMPRC has also earned a nomination for ‘World's Leading Tourist Board 2023’ again this year after having secured the distinguished title for the first time last year.

Voting for the WTA World Category is open until November 17th, 2023.
