Two individuals have been appointed as board members of the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC).

The Privatization and Corporatization Board (PCB) revealed that appointed as new board members of MMPRC were Aishath Hameed, registered in Malé and Abdul Sameeu Imad, native to Ukulhas island of Alif Alif atoll.

The appointments were made on July 4.

A board member of MMPRC is entitled to a monthly salary of MVR 9,800.

While MMPRC is a company the is earmarked a significant amount from the state budget, it has to be noted that there has not been much work done to boost tourist arrivals and the overall tourism sector, over the course of the past seven months.

Fathimath Thaufeeq, who is to have spent a lot to bring President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu to power, was appointed as a Managing Director of MMPRC and was sacked due to incompetence.

In June, table tennis player Ibrahim Shiuree was appointed to the post.

MMPRC is a company established to promote tourism across the Maldives.
