Da Grande Sports Club beat TC Sports Club 2-1 on Thursday evening's game for the Dhiraagu Dhivehi Premier League (DDPL), successfully claiming the seond spot on the table with 15 points from eight matches played.

Da Grande was able to secure a lead over TC early on in the game, with captain Yasfaad Habeeb (Mulakey) scoring a goal for the team in the eighth minute. TC went on to even out the score by turning a penalty into their first goal in the 22nd game. The penalty was scored by TC's foreign forward Malcolm Cassius. TC was awarded the penalty when Da Grande goalkeaper Iyan Abdul Aleem fouled TC's Malcolm from inside the penalty area.

Da Grande created a few opportunities to score as the game passed the half hour mark, with mid-fielder Sahau Mohamed exploiting a mistake by the TC's goalkeeper to once again secure the lead for Da Grande in the 36th minute.

TC improved their play significantly in the second half of the game, with Nisham Mohamed Rasheed landing a dangerous that flew wide of the Da Grande goalpost. TC Captain Mohamed Azzam also attempted to score, but the ball was defended by Da Grande's goalkeeper, leaving the 2-1 score unchanged.

Speaking to the press after the match, Da Grande coach Ismail Mahfooz (Inma) said the team had failed to replicate their stellar performance against TC in the first round of the league. However, he said that the team had done well in claiming three points from the match, and that he was satisfied with the outcome of the game.

TC went into the game against Da Grande following the resignation of their coach Mohamed Shaazlee (Shaaz), with the team's asistant coach Ahsan Rasheed instructing the players before the match. Ahsan said that the players had prepared for the match under Shaaz's instructions, and that it hd been dificult for them to perform well following his sudden departure.

With the win against TC, Da Grande has 15 points from eight matches played and is currently in the second position on the DDPL table. Reigning champions Maziya are in first position with a comfortable six-point lead. Valencia has been pushed to third position with 12 points from eight matches. TC's defeat by Da Grande leaves them in fifth position on the table with nine points.

Eagles Vs. UV

Eagles came up from behind to score 3 goals against UV and are currently in seventh position with 8 points

Club Eagles played United Victory (UV) on Thursday night in the DDPL, with Eagles coming up from behind to snatch a 3-2 victory from UV.

Both teams exhibited an even play in the first half, with UV taking the lead with a goal in extra time by forward Ahmed Nizam as the first hald frew to a close. Eagles scored all three of their goals in the second half of the game, while UV continued to improve their performance and attempt to land a shot on goal as the match wore on.

Eagles' first goal was scored by defender Hisam Saleem (Kokky) in the seventh minute of the second half, and the team continued to apply pressure against the UV defense with succssive attempts to score. Forward Mohamed Naeem scored Eagles' second goal in the 61st minute with help from Hassan Raeef Ahmed (Hanna). Ten minutes after that, foreign forward Osama Anbar secured Eagles' victory by landing the team their third and final goal.

UV midfielder Anatoliy Vlasichev was able to score the team a second goal in the 82nd of the match, shortening the gap between them and Eagles, who ultimately went on to secure three points from their win in the match.

In the post-match press conference, Eagles' Assistant Coach Mohamed Nimad (Nimaa) said that the team's players deserved praise for their performance, and that being able to come up from behind to beat UV was a rallying moment that would drive the team to push forward even stronger in the league.

UV Coach Ihusaan Abdul Ghani (Saanthi) said that UV had lost the match when players became complacent with their initial lead, and that they would be looking to avoid mistakes like that in the upcoming games.

With the 3-2 victory Eagles secured over UV, they are currently in seventh position on the DDPL table with 8 points from eight matches played. They are tied for points with Super United Sports (SUS), who are in position, also having won eight points from eight matches played. SUS is ahead of UV based on goal difference. Following their defeat against Eagles, UV is at the bottom of the table, having earned 3 points from all their matches in the leaugue thus far.
