21 new cases of the global Covid-19 pandemic, have been confirmed in the Maldives.
The Health Protection Agency (HPA) revealed that Tuesday’s cases were confirmed out of the 1,492 samples tested from 6pm Monday to 6pm Tuesday.
The new cases include 14 Maldivians and seven foreigners.
15 out of the new cases were confirmed in the greater Malé region, whereas the remaining six were confirmed from residential islands or resorts.
Maldives Covid-19 tally currently sits at 12,030 with this development.
Further, with 50 additional recoveries reported by sundown on Tuesday, the total number of recoveries has been pushed to 11,182.
As of Tuesday, there are 210 Covid-19 patients receiving treatment at isolation facilities and 47 patients hospitalized for treatment, this is five less than the previous day.
Maldives currently has 800 active coronavirus cases.
HPA revealed that there are 18 coronavirus cases across 13 residential islands out of which 14 are foreigners and four are local cases.
There is a total of 194 active cases across 26 resorts. As such, the number of Covid-19 cases among resort employees has reached 140. There are also active infections among 54 tourists.
The public health authority reported the 41st death from Covid-19 on Tuesday morning, when a 45-year-old Maldivian woman receiving treatment in the ICU of the Hulhumalé Medical Facility, passed away at around 2:38pm on Tuesday.
