Maldives confirmed 35 new cases of the Covid-19 pandemic on Tuesday.
The Health Protection Agency (HPA) revealed that the new cases include 24 Maldivians and 11 foreigners.
26 out of the 35 new cases were detected in the greater Malé region whereas the remaining nine were confirmed from residential islands.
Tuesday’s cases were confirmed from the 1,517 samples tested between 6pm Monday and 6pm Tuesday.
This has pushed the island nation’s total Covid-19 case count to 11,567.
The country currently has 871 active cases of the virus, out of which 320 patients are seeking treatment at isolation facilities. This number is increase of 13 patients in comparison to the previous day.
While 37 patients were hospitalized for treatment on Monday, the number rose to 47 by 6pm Tuesday.
Further, the public health authority also reported 89 recoveries on Tuesday, which pushes the total number of recoveries observed in the island nation, to 10,652.
The global pandemic has claimed 37 lives in the island nation thus far, since it surfaced on March 7.
