67 additional cases of the global Covid-19 pandemic have been confirmed in Maldives.
The Health Protection Agency (HPA) revealed that 41 cases were detected in the greater Malé region, whereas the remaining 26 were discovered from residential islands.
The new cases were discovered from the 1,555 samples tested from 6pm Friday to 6pm Saturday and includes 58 Maldivians and nine foreigners, revealed HPA.
This has pushed the total number of coronavirus cases discovered in the island nation, to 10,465.
In addition, 97 recoveries were also reported by 6pm Saturday, pushing the total number of patients who have seen full recoveries, to 9,310.
The number of Covid-19 patients seeking treatment at isolation facilities has increased to 526, from 516 within the past 24 hours. There are six additional patients currently hospitalized for treatment, the total being 73.
This means that the country currently has 1,114 active cases of the infection.
Over the past week, a total of 420 cases were confirmed across the nation, the greatest increase in daily cases having been reported on Wednesday, at 97. The lowest number of cases, 44, were reported on Friday.
HPA also revealed that there are active coronavirus cases in 22 residential islands and 20 resorts with the inclusion of nine tourists and 16 resort workers. There are 114 active cases in total out of which 51 are local cases and 63, foreign.
Hoandedhdhoo island in Gaaf Dhaal atoll where there are three active cases, remains under monitoring.
Due to a slow decline in cases being reported of recent, public health authorities lifted the additional restrictive measure banning the operation of vehicles in the greater Malé region from 8pm to 5am. The ban was implemented from 8pm to 5am before, however, the hours have been reduced from 10pm to 5am.
The seven-hour curfew during this period is still in effect, revealed authorities.
