A 21-year-old woman who was pronounced dead on arrival at hospital on Friday night, tested positive for Covid-19.
The Health Emergency Operations Centre (HEOC) has confirmed this.
She was taken to Hulhumale’ Hospital at around 11:42pm on Friday, reportedly after suffering a stroke, and was pronounced dead on arrival.
The matter was reported to police immediately, and given the current Covid-19 pandemic, Covid-19 testing is conducted in all such cases.
Despite the woman tested positive for the infection, her death is not considered a Covid-19 death.xc
Police continue to investigate the matter.
Maldives has reported a total of 28 deaths from Covid-19 thus far.
