A 26-year-old man accused of raping a minor has been remanded until sentencing.
Ahmed Nishan is accused of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl. He was arrested on July 15, from where the assault is suspected to have taken place.
Police said that he was remanded until sentencing on Thursday, as the Criminal Court believes that he poses a threat to the society and given that this is case regarding harming a child.
Work is underway to forward the case for prosecution.
Noting that there has been increase in offenses involving children including exploitation and grooming via the internet, the institution urged parents to be more cautious of this.
While there has been an increase in sexual offences against children being reported, all recent suspects have been remanded for the duration of their trials.
